ADA COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE
END OF WATCH: APRIL 21, 2024
DEPUTY SHERIFF TOBIN BOLTER OF THE ADA COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE, SUCCUMBED TO A GUNSHOT WOUND HE SUSTAINED WHILE ON A TRAFFIC STOP. HE HAD JUST EXITED HIS PATROL CAR AND WAS APPROACHING THE VEHICLE HE HAD STOPPED WHEN THE DRIVER OPENED FIRE ON HIM BEFORE FLEEING. A WITNESS TO THE SHOOTING CALLED 911 AND PERFORMED CPR ON DEPUTY BOLTER BEFORE MEDICS ARRIVED AND TRANSPORTED HIM TO A LOCAL HOSPITAL.
DEPUTY BOLTER WAS 27 YEARS OLD. DEPUTY BOLTER HAD SEVEN YEARS OF LAW ENFORCEMENT EXPERIENCE AND HAD BEEN WITH THE ADA COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE SINCE JANUARY 2024. BEFORE THE ADA COUNTY SHERIFFS OFFICE, DEPUTY BOLTER WORKED WITH THE MERIDIAN POICE DEPARTMENT, ID, AND THE PLEASANT HILL POLICE DEPARTMENT, CA.
DEPUTY BOLTER WANTED TO BE A POLICE OFFICER HIS WHOLE LIFE. “HE HAD A LOVE FOR LIFE AND PEOPLE AND JOY THAT WASN’T DEPENDENT UPON CIRCUMSTANCES” DEPUTY BOLTER LEAVES BEHIND HIS WIFE, ABBEY, AND THEIR UNBORN CHILD.
“TOBIN ADVOCATED FOR THE OPPRESSED, PROTECTED THE VULNERABLE, AND DID EVERYTHING HE COULD TO STOP EVIL FROM HARMING OTHERS. HE WAS LIGHT IN DARKNESS”
Flag Update: August 1st, 2024
The flag has been handed over by Idaho State Police to the Valley County Sheriff's Department. It will make its way to McCall Police Department. Deputy Bolter's flag will continue to travel north through Idaho gathering signatures.
Flag Update May 23rd, 2024
Deputy Tobin Bolter's flag was signed by deputies with the Boise County Sheriffs Department and handed over to the Idaho State Police. These wonderful heroes have taken the time to help honor the life, service, and sacrifice of our local fallen hero. The flag will continue its journey across the state gathering signatures from law enforcement agencies, showing love and solidarity for Deputy Bolter's wife and unborn child.
